We promise to always bring our passion and love for the trails as well as a healthy appetite for cheese curds and a solid IPA.

Tuesday Feb 09, 2016
Tuesday Feb 09, 2016
When trouble hits the trail community people really step up. We had to say goodbye to yet another amazing person. It is humbling and inspiring to see so many people ready to do whatever is needed to help. We feel fortunate to be associated with so many people and groups and see and hear what they are willing to do. Episode #11- Luke Nelson: "You can do more than you think you can."
Tuesday Jan 19, 2016
Tuesday Jan 19, 2016
PODCAST note: There is a SMUT race contest with this episode. That's right- a free entry into the distance of your choice for Scout Mountain Ultra but that's not all- you will also receive a Patagonia hat AND shirt from the race. Make sure to listen to find out all the details..With the Outdoor Retailers Show showing up in SLC, UT we knew we had to score a few high quality shows. The opportunity to throw a mic at Luke Nelson was a no brainer. Not only is he one of those people that you want to be around but he makes you feel warm and fuzzy. Luke grew up in the mountains but it wasn't until a dare to run a marathon got him fired up about running and the rest is history. Luke was dared to sign up a week before a local marathon (with no training) and he obliged. He had about a week to get ready so he started training. A few days after he registered he got in a 3 mile training run but that left his legs a bit tired and sore. In true runner fashion he decided to taper after those 3 miles and let the legs rest. A couple days after that he raced that marathon and finished in 3:10 and third in his age group- he was hooked. Luke has traveled all over the world running and racing but calls Pocatello, Idaho his home. He is no stranger to adventure runs and as he says "there is always something in the cooker".Luke just finished up one of those runs with partner in crime- Ty Draney. They seem to always come up with "very bad ideas" and laugh to tell about it. 2016 is a big year for Luke, he has retained a coach and is gearing up for the Sky Running World Extreme series in Europe. We had a great time chatting with Luke and we thank him for all he has done for the sport. Episode #10- Turd'l Miller: "Man, I feel like a woman."
Tuesday Jan 12, 2016
Tuesday Jan 12, 2016
If you have ever been to a Ultra Adventure race, you most likely came across Turdl Miller. He is an all around good guy and let's face it- he is pretty darn funny too. Turdl took some time from Outdoor Retailers in SLC, UT to invite us into his 1989 VW Bus for a very memorable show. We discussed his role at Ultra Adventures as well as his 2016 race schedule. TrailManners found out Turdl has put in for the 2016 Wasatch 100 and we hope the lottery gods #LetTurdlRun! We received some great insight into the VanLife from a seasoned pro and walked away enlightened. We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did recording it.For more information on the Ultra Adventures Race Series- just click HERE. Episode #9- Jim Skaggs: Race Directing and Enabling
Tuesday Jan 05, 2016
Tuesday Jan 05, 2016
It's a New Year and here at TrailManners we are off and running. And we thought we would kick it off with a local legend, awesome RD and all around great guy- Jim Skaggs.Jim has been a solid presence in the Wasatch Mountains since they formed. He has done so much for the trail and ultra running community in Utah and we wanted to know more about him. He started the Buffalo Run with a little over 100 runners and now as he exceeds 800 he still hasn't lost that small race, home town feel. With his home brew and amazing wife Karen (the best stew cook this side of the Mississippi) they make sure all the runners have a great time before and after the race. You would be hard pressed to find a chink in his armor other than the fact he doesn't like IPA's. Jim not only puts on incredible races but he gets out and performs at the best of them too. He is a Grand Slammer and throws in the occasional 5k for fun. He is well versed in the art of racing- from timed runs on a flat track to going sub 30 at Wasatch. We were excited to sit down with Jim and ask him the hard questions....or something like that.Head on over to Buffalo Run Adventures and see what all the hoopla is about!Show Notes:Race DirectingBuffalo Run AdventuresBeing a Race AddictFear of "getting old"

Episode #7- Brian Beckstead: Altra Footwear, Ultra Fishing and Yes- Running
Tuesday Dec 22, 2015
Tuesday Dec 22, 2015
We got lucky and caught up with Brian after locking him down between trips, running, being a family man and ultra fishing. He was kind enough to let us peek behind the curtain at Altra Footwear in Logan, Utah to see what they are up to. With a new "Smart shoe" ready to launch and a new apparel line with "the jacket every ultra runner should own" (which comes out 2/1)- we definitely felt lucky he penciled us in. He told us the story of how Zero Drop came to life and the exact moment he knew it was going to be huge.We then got him out of his work mode and made him spill the beans on his running crusades and hobbies. We want to thank Brian and Altra for spending some time with us and we truly hope you enjoy the show.Head on over to www.altrarunning.com and check out all they haver to offer.Show NotesBirth of "Zeroing"- a.k.a Zero Drop2010 Wasatch 100 mile 97 crying..why?"Every Ultra runner in the community will want this jacket"- (comes out 2/1/16)World's 1st Smart shoeUTMB and the best 10 hours of his running lifeUltra-Fishing

TrailManners
I feel extremely fortunate to have been involved with the trail running community since 2006. Whether it is running, racing, podcasting, race directing, being a team manager, product testing, HUMR founder or a volunteer- the friendships I have forged with so many amazing people will always be my greatest memories. Mountains and trails are my passions and I can’t say no to a good adventure.
Bringing TrailManners to life has been life changing and a dream come true. I am so happy Joel Hatch and I started this journey way back in 2015 - now let’s see where else it can take us.
